Get to know me

In 2022, I joined Healthline’s editorial team as an editor and writer, with a particular interest in creating physical activity and nutrition content that is accessible, engaging, and medically accurate. I spend the majority of my free time rock climbing and exploring Scotland’s wild sea cliffs, mountains, and outcrops. In many ways, physical activity is the central pillar of my life. I discovered in my teens that it was the most effective tool for helping me manage anxiety, build confidence, and foster a social circle. As a keen researcher, editor, and outdoor enthusiast, I aim to create content focused on everyday functionality, injury prevention, and mental well-being. I also have a keen interest in nutrition and public health topics that affect diverse populations. I have a Masters of Science in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh, and my writing has appeared in various digital and print publications in Scotland and North America.

My approach

My writing and editorial process is largely guided by three principles:
  1. Physical activity looks and feels different for every individual. Various factors – physical, emotional, cultural, and socioeconomic – can influence the type, duration, and intensity of movement we can perform.
  2. What does medical science say? Many health myths, trends, claims, and guidelines are circulating online, making it challenging to determine what is safe and effective. For each topic, I focus on reading the research and presenting it in a way that is accessible and easy to understand – even if the results of studies are mixed!
  3. I aim to provide actionable takeaways for each reader. Whether it’s exercise modifications, mental health resources, or a note on when to connect with a doctor, I want people to feel like they can apply something today that supports their health and well-being.
