To get started with Happy Head, you’ll first complete a questionnaire about your experience with hair loss. Then, you’ll be assigned to a licensed physician in your state for a telehealth consultation.

The physician will determine whether you’re a candidate for Happy Head based on your medical history, any existing allergies, the current degree of hair loss, and other considerations. There is no additional fee for this telehealth visit; it’s included in the cost of your first order.

Depending on your circumstances, you may receive a prescription and a recommendation for the most appropriate hair growth plan. Happy Head also offers ongoing doctor support and customization.

Happy Head offers free express shipping via USPS. Orders are shipped in discreet packaging every 25 days to ensure medications are delivered on time. If you want to change shipping frequency, you can email or call customer service. Renewal dates can also be adjusted through your account on the Happy Head website.

Subscribers who aren’t satisfied within the first 6 months can request a refund by contacting the company directly. Returned products must be in their original packaging.

Once Happy Head receives the returned product, it will issue a refund for the price paid, minus shipping, handling, and processing fees. This applies only to the most recent order and not your full subscription.

Topical minoxidil and oral finasteride are FDA approved for hair loss, and these ingredients are found in some Happy Head products.

However, some of the leading ingredients used to treat hair loss come with side effects, so it’s important to discuss potential risks with your doctor during your initial consultation. They can make recommendations for the most appropriate treatment plan.

Some topical medications, like minoxidil, can be irritating to the scalp. While Happy Head includes ingredients like aloe and hydrocortisone to help minimize irritation, you may need to customize the minoxidil concentration.

Do not take topical finasteride, dutasteride, or spironolactone if you or your partner are planning on becoming pregnant, you’re currently pregnant, or you’re nursing. Though there is limited evidence of potential risk for men taking finasteride while trying to conceive, it generally suggested that you avoid it to minimize risk.

While finasteride and dutasteride are sometimes prescribed to premenopausal women, these medications are generally prescribed to men and postmenopausal women.

Not all customizations available are listed in this product list. Our vetting team goes through a rigorous process to see which products make our list and which don’t. We found that there isn’t enough scientific research about how effective the products are compared to the ingredients already approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

We are also not sure of the side effects these ingredients or combination of ingredients may cause. Therefore, we do not list those compounded products here.

If you’re noticing unexplained hair loss, it might be time to talk with a doctor. This is especially important if you’re also experiencing symptoms like fatigue, weight loss, fever, rashes or skin changes, or changes to your bowel movements. This could indicate a medical issue.

Be sure to mention recent surgeries or medical procedures, changes to your diet, or recent immunizations or medications. The more information you can provide, the better equipped your doctor will be to pinpoint the most likely cause of your hair loss and provide a treatment plan.

If you’re using hair loss medications, be aware of potential side effects as well, including those relating to sexual dysfunction and depression. Stop using topical products and meet with your doctor if you experience chest pain, fainting, dizziness, or a rapid heartbeat.

Many customers report hair regrowth after using Happy Head. However, it’s important to remember that not all prescriptions will work for everyone. Certain conditions and types of alopecia could mean that treatments from Happy Head don’t work at all.

Some people may experience results as early as 3 months with daily use, while others may take 6 months to notice regrowth.

Yes, one is required for prescription-strength topical finasteride and prescription-strength topical minoxidil. It’s also required for oral finasteride, dutasteride, and minoxidil.

After signing up with Happy Head, you’ll schedule a virtual consultation with a board certified dermatologist in your state, who will evaluate your eligibility and write the prescription.

Happy Head also sells over-the-counter products for hair loss. These include shampoo and conditioner.

For men and women experiencing hair loss, Happy Head makes it easy to receive FDA-approved medication delivered right to your door.

As a subscriber, you have access to a wide variety of oral and topical products. The formulas can be customized to meet your individual needs, and a virtual consultation means there’s no need for an in-person doctor’s visit to receive a prescription. Happy Head also offers ongoing medical support.
